Well I've been tired of CuBase for a long time. I wanted to move to strictly Linux recording software. I considered trading my M-Audio FireWire 410 for a focusrite because M-Audio is Linux friendly. Well I finally stumbled upon Reaper. ITs cheap. Only $40. Technically you can get it for free, but after 30 days, you get one of those messages everytime youi log in telling you to buy the damn thing. But seriously this program is awesome in so many ways. Its pretty userfriendly, but I will say that there was a bit of a short hurdle in jumping from Cubase SX3 to this program. But heres some screen shots.

Frankly I'm really impressed with this software. It was a whole lot more than I was expecting. The best part about it is that there's a whole tight nit community based around it, which makes it really easy to learn, and find your way around. You can totally customize the gui, and there are entire threads in the forum devoted to GUI Mods for the software.
I'd say on the downside, the Midi sequencer needs some work. However, its fully VST compatible, and the ReWire support for reason is outstanding. Litterally zero latency between Reaper and Reason. Thats a huge plus believe me. One of the things I hate about Cubase is how resource intensive it is. Anytime you start using VST's or using Reason via ReWire, you really start lagging. I so far have yet to come accross anyproblems on that scale. I really suggest this program.
Anyway heres the link to the site, and I say get started with this right away!
Oh and I forgot to mention, the program is only 2 MB!!
