Violin Society

Hello,

My name is Adam R Sweet. I am the owner of the Violin Society here on Ning, and the owner of Sweet Luthier Supply Company. I am a classically trained violinist, with a BA in Music and a certificate in violin from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. I play several fiddle styles including Celtic, Bluegrass and Klezmer with various ensembles based in western Massachusetts and play viola with the Valley Light Opera and the Keene Chamber Orchestra. I continuously support these organizations through donations and volunteering my time.

I am the founder of the TwoTree Brand and was involved at the very beginning in researching, developing, sourcing and supplying the brands in the form of very fresh, clean and very well dressed Manchurian bow hair; hand-made four and five string violins and violas; and carbon fiber and alternative fiber bows. Many of you probably know me from the years I worked with Wagman Primus, Michael T Sowden, Steve Beckly and Pioneer Valley Luthier Supply Co.

If your shop rehairs bows, you should be using TwoTree Brand bow hair. I'll post a Blog about that later. It's simply the best, not because I tell you, but because my customers will tell you. Shops that use it include the who's who of violin makers and violin shops world-wide. Emily and I go to Manchuria where we meet with the suppliers and we buy the tails ourselves before contracting with dressing facilities to process them for our demanding customers. We're picky because we know you are.

In the luthier supply catalog, you will find tonewood from Battenkill and a few other US providers. If you're looking for something specific but don't want to spend a lot of money, contact us for some suggestions.

I also carry hide glue (Milligan & Higgins - the best!), varnish and other supplies, tools and hard to find items. Visit the website to learn more: http://luthiersupply.net

Thank you all for coming and joining us here in the Violin Society! I hope this site grows and is beneficial for your business, because I feel that if it benefits you, it will benefit us all.

Great initiatives - I heard about you because you have an entry in http://www.AllViolinShops.com. Our rehairs are done by one of Australia's really good bow makers and rehairers. He is one of the very few people who actually test every single hair for its strength before using it - it's amazing. So I would be interested in trying your hair and pass it on to our bow specialist.
I wonder too if you could place a link on this site or any other site you maintain that points to one of my initiatives - an online violin/viola/cello/bass teaching facility. If you feel that's ok, you could go to the link below and get your affiliate link (anyone with a website can become an affiliate). I started this is only two days ago, and any support is greatly appreciated. Here is the link: http://maestrostrings.com/onlinelessons/affiliates.php . Also online teachers are wanted (fiddlers as well as classical players).
