Personal Statement or Biography
I began studying the cello at age 8 in the public school systems along with private instruction. I was deeply involved in the pioneering project to bring string music education to the public school systems in my community, (lab rat). The needs of the school orchestra moved me to viola at age 10 and the study of viola and violin were mainstays of my musical development until age 15 when I decided that I would only play the viola and later studied at the collegiate level for 3 years within a viola performance major. Around 1991 I completely broke from the orchestra, (and 'classical' music), and struck out upon a study of other types of music. I've played in many different types of pop bands, country bands and even a few cajun bands. All music is my repertoire for life. I sat in with a drum circle on violin in Oregon and I've stepped into many different types of ensembles both acoustic and electronic. My favorite venue is supporting a singer-songwriter with cello, violin or viola in small ensembles.

My favorite thing to do in the studio is create dense, lush tracks of violin, viola and cello as score for projects, (string orchestrations). I wish I was filthy rich, I wish you were too. :-)

My latest interest is working with a loop pedal and developing a show based on the violin, viola, cello, guitar and vocals.

Today I sing and songwrite and have periods of time when I return to the studio for myself or a project with others. My favorite way to produce music is through online collaboration.

I look forward to collaborating with other violinists, string instrumentalists and musicians through ning.

I like ning, it means 'peace' in Chinese.

Hi jack thanks for your support :) I have presently 3 string orchestras and one full orchestra to conduct and find music for . I spend a lot of time arranging :)
I have just read a circular sent around by the associated board exam people . Dont know if you get it in America .. But finally they have recognised that scaled for violins are harder and take more time to get right than Fluted or clarinets .. so might give us less . Bloody fantastic .. I have been saying this for 20 years !!! Why didnt they listen to me :(

Hi Jack,
Thanks for writing me. The violin I play is a wooden one, not a "SEMI".
The question is how to conduct logic and emotion, simply a challenge in life , isn't it?

Yes thats one of the reasons we play violin is to be with other musicians . I not only support my orchestra they are all my students, I teach them all individually and take orchestra praccy every week :) Its my job and I love every minute of it .
Its great to be able to find some where where we fuddle players can sit and chat .

Good morning Pat.

Good to hear from you. Thank you for your interest. In my opinion when we get old and nothing will work you can still have your instrument and will be able to make music.
