Spreading Peace and Unity in the World by Uniting Cultures Through the Use of Art and Music

In the end I guess art is what you make of it. Art can be simple or complex. It can tell a story or convey ideas. It can even simply express an emotion. Art doesn't in the end really need to be anything, and in fact it may just simply be. As a musician I have always enjoyed combining different styles of music. I try as hard as I can to learn everything I can about the subject, and engulf myself with it. I personally don't understand individuals that spend their whole lives adopting a single style of music and ignore the rest, or brush it off as uninteresting or stupid. I just can't boggle my mind around people who only learn so much then say, "Well I guess that's good enough." It seems that one would soon become bored and give up. After all there is just so much to learn. There's a whole world of music out there, from Rock to Bebop to Classical to Romanian Gypsy music you name it. Once learned, why not combine those styles together to form a new style? By doing so, you create a true unity of culture. After all, doesn't art imitate life? If so, given the extraordinary amount of experience one has in life, a single style of music can't possibly express it all. As a musician, my hope is to explore music as deeply as I can and learn as many contrasting styles as I possibly can, and fuse them together as a symbol of peace. After all, these cultures aren't all that different. Why shouldn't they coexist? What better way to create unity than through the one thing all cultures share… art.
